Finally 'Cont + 3'. The 3 notes would then be converted to triplets for a duration of a quarter note. Interesting idea. Go into the measure properties and change the actual duration to 9/8. Do the quarter-note triplet, then a quarter note, a half-note triplet, and leave the eighth rest. Enter the notes, then select the triplet marker for the two dotted quarter notes, select the endpoints and drag them out over the quarter note and eighth rest.

It starts with a grace note combined with a 16th, then an eight and ends with a dotted eighth rest. It was OK on a previous version of MS. Opening the file from the previous version gives an "error" message also shown in a pic.
