Bridge Mode is a network configuration setting that is available in Xfinity routers and gateways. Essentially, when you enable Bridge Mode on your Xfinity device, it turns your router into a "pass-through" device, allowing another router or networking device to take over the routing responsibilities.The problem is that the Comcast gateways will only learn one MAC address when they are in bridge mode. If you switch from an old router to a new router, you need to power cycle the modem to clear the MAC table. You'd only need to clone the old router's MAC if you didn't want to power cycle the modem for some reason.

I run my own router in the 192.168.x.x address domain and do not want to change the configuration of my network so I plan to reconfigure the Modem to operate in "Bridged" mode. My understanding is that in this mode, it would take any DHCP requests and pass them to the router.If you have your device in bridged mode, you can fix the need to reboot your router by first releasing the IP of the device that's connected before disconnecting it.
