I didn't want a basic Springfield and wanted a forged reciever, completely unaware that LRB was a thing at that time. I knew of Fulton, Springfield, Bula, Norinco, and James River.No reason to get a BM-59 vs. M1A unless you are into collecting one. There are some great choices for M1A's / M14's and though more involved than an AR, you can build your own tackdriver. The JRA's must have been a big hit the BM59s where $1050 not long ago and IIRC the JRA M1a is a cast receiver for those that care.The 12 month average price is $1,270.09 new and $1,181.09 used. JRA Rockola M14's are a good deal, as its hard to build the same rifle building from parts for the same price, but if you buy your own parts you can control exactly what goes into it. (These are marked BM59 on heel). No the unserviceable M1 oprod was shortened to M14 length then the M14 oprod guide was sleeved to accept the thinner M1 rod. End of rod was capped with a bolt welded in and ground to fit. Use the oprod spring from a "tanker" garand and thats it.
