The release lever is (should) be under tension, and slightly difficult to release. Now hold the pistol and manipulate the slide back every so slightly with one hand. Barely touch the slide release with the other. It should fall right down.

I have contacted Glock service and they have been responsive however I'm not happy having issues with a brand new gun. 43x mos return to battery failures. My 43x is having problems. Many shots slide feels sluggish and slow. Several times it didn't ho into battery. This is with oem mags and 124 grain ammo. I don't remember when this gin was new and running irons. Have a 507k on it now. I have the MC9 and it rocks. The trick to getting the recoil spring to soften up (in any Canik) is run 124 NATO ammo thru it, about 250 rounds.
