In fact, it is one of the MB owner's manual's checks. The higher the revs, the greater the power. So after some minor research it appears the OM617 produces at least 40 more ft/lbs of torque and at least 30 more horse power than the Jeep 2.5l. It also produces this torque at a much lower rpm than the 2.5. All the while more than doubling the fuel economy of the vehicle.There are a lot of people doing this swap in trucks that are destined to stay on the road and most of those swaps were done to achieve better mpg. An increase in mpg is a plus but I am more interested in the torque that a diesel can supply at lower revolutions.

I re drilled the Toyota flywheel to fit the Mercedes crankshaft as well as machined a custom pilot bearing adapter. I just finished the engine build and am working on hooking everything back up. I’m shooting to have it done by the end of the month.
