Core courses

Students will complete each category in the Foundational Core (31-35 Credits). The Foundational Core courses are lower division. Writing Foundations (4 Credits) Arts and Humanities - Global and General (6-8 Credits - 2 Courses) Quantitative Literacy and Analysis (4 Credits) Communication, Media, and Society (3 Credits) Social Science (3-4 Credits).

Credits for all high school courses and for graduation requirements will be awarded on a “unit of credit” basis. One “1.0 unit of credit” is equal to a year of instruction within a course. Some courses are offered to students with half credit, “0.5 unit of credit”, is equal to a semester or half a year of instruction within a course.A minimum of 21 units of Materials Science and Engineering (MATSCI) course work, including core and lab courses specified below, all taken for a letter grade.
