Pierce element ammo is objectively worse outside specific speedrunning applications on certain (long) monsters. LBG pierce is great as it's not as reliant on perfect monster dodging like spread and also not as hitzone dependant as normals. Your DPS will vary depending on the monster though. For pierce 3 grab the last boss LBG and then when you're up in higher MRs pickup the malzeno LBG for pierce 2 rapid fire. Gear up to ATK 7, Pierce 3, WEX 3. Narga LBG is what you want as it will rapid Pierce 2. Rhenoplos S helm. Shell Studded S chest. Rath S Gauntlets. Spio/Skalds S waist. Rajang S pants. Just knowing when to switch to piercing thunder ammo will ensure this. You'll get the most mileage out of Zinogre's LBG for a Rapid Fire slicing build, Nargacuga's LBG for Rapid Fire Pierce 2, and Magnamalo's for a Sticky 3/Slicing or Spread 3 build. My Most Favorite LBG is Nargacuga LBG with Rapid Fire Pierce level 2.Blood Lust does drain your health but the rate is not as bad as Dereliction, and you can recover from it quickly. Also, Blood Lust can trigger Coalescence which is a bonus. For comfy LBG builds, look no further than the Rapid Fire Pierce 2 (RFP2) builds. Malzeno's LBG is the comfiest (and arguably the best) gun for RFP2.
