I am new to this forum. I have acquired a 1946 cj2a from a family member this year. I have been trying to get it going over the past few weeks. It has sat for the last 10+ years. I emptied the gas, changed filters, changed oil etc. I knew it had a transmission problem with the clutch. The release lever/ control cable had come off.Go very easy with a hone. It doesn't take much to remove too much material from the inside of the bushing. 46 CJ-2A #64462 "Ol' Red" (bought April 1969) (second owner) (12 V, 11" brakes, M-38 frame, MD Juan tub) U.S. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer (ret.) If you use an M-38 or CJ-3A frame to replace a CJ-2A frame the left motor mount will not line up, but a simple adapter can be used. Early CJ-3A frames and M-38 frames have the tabs for installing bottom mounted radiators like the CJ-2A has. Thank you for your thoughts. I agree it is certainly an unusual situation suggested in my post. If it was a new GPW engine that was installed later as a replacement for the original Willys engine serial number CJ2A-34630, then perhaps the installer stamped the GPW engine A 34630 to keep the numerical part of the original CJ2A engine serial number in the jeep.

There are three commonly used Ohm ratings for fuel gauges. 0-90 Ohm is used commonly on GM products. 70-10 Ohm is common to Ford/Chrysler. 240-33 Ohm is the most commonly used in after market gauges. These three gauges also have compatible sending units. So that's my solution to the radio question, next it remains to be seen if I can actually hear anything while I'm driving. For music source, this radio has a USB input so I'm going to be using a flash memory stick to store the songs so I don't have to worry about vibration. So keep in mind if you find standard CJ3A seat frames the fronts will bolt into the same holes as the 2A frame. Not so with the M-38 frame.
