Illustrator guides not showing

Smart Guides are not showing when I use Adobe Illustrator CC. There were several posts in this forum that suggest turning of "snap to grid" and double checking the preferences that smart guides are on. I've done both and provided screenshots. Smart Guides is very important feature to me. I need it urgently back on. Thanks

Create guides. If the rulers aren’t showing, choose View > Show Rulers. Position the pointer on the left ruler for a vertical guide or on the top ruler for a horizontal guide. Show/Hide Edges (ctrl+H) did the trick for me. Toggling the Real Time Drawing setting on and off did not prevent the guides from vanishing, neither did switching from Previewing on CPU or GPU. You can show and hide Illustrator guides in Illustrator and you can show and hide InDesign guides in InDesign, but you will not be able to control Illustrator guides when viewing a placed Illustrator file in InDesign. Check your layers using F7 and see if any of these guides are placed on locked layer. If guide options show unlocked, you're probably looking at another layer. A locked layer will lock any guides placed on that specific layer. Not being able to select these guides is another indication they are probably trapped inside a locked layer.
