This makes for a loose fit in an action that has threads on the large side. Plenty of the barrel nut style barrels work out great, but having a good smith setup your barrel properly guarantees it. We offer two blued finishes for chrome moly steel barrels. The blued options are polished and blued or glass peened and blued. The polished and blued finish is done by polishing the barrel with 180, 240, 320, and 400 grit sanding belts, finishing with a Scotch BriteTM polishing pad, and then bluing. Jan 30, 2020 · Had a criterion remage barrel in 243 8tw. On a trued action it shot great, lots of groups in the .2s&.3s. Cleaned up as easy as my barts and kriegers. I pulled the barrel at 2400-2500, it's been 6yrs ago, so kinda fuzzy. It still shot under 3/4moa, with no flyers or wild shots at distance, but it had lost 125fps. I looked at the list of equipment that top competitors are using and Shilen has much more presence than Benchmark. The 0.850 straight seems just a better fit for the factory varmint walnut stock…. Especially when you go with 24” length.With my tested lot of Center-X,RimX/Shilen is comparable to Vudoo/Ace at 50 yards. I've shot a few groups at 100 which showed promise (multiple 5-shot groups with 3 rounds in 1/2" followed by 1-2 fliers 3/4" or more away), but 1029fps is too slow to shoot PRS matches with targets at 400 yards.
