The intake gaskets weren't updated to Aluminum until after (~2012) all 3800's stopped being produced (2008). Therefore, no 3800 ever cane with them originally. If you see black edge on your LIM gaskets, near the injectors, they haven't been upgraded to aluminum versions (some cheaper knock offs now exist, along with AC Delco ones).

The 2.8/3.1 V6 engines are notorious for LIM gasket failure. In a nut shell most GM V-engines have LIM gasket issues. GM just went a little cheap on the gasket design. The UIM gasket is not the issue so much on the 3800 seriesII as it is the UIM plenum itself that fails.If the gaskets are leaking externally, change them NOW!!! Bar's Leaks will be worse than nothing since it's giving a false sense of security. Also, it won't work with the design of the LIM gaskets. Folks have tried, and purchased themselves another 3800 as a result. Instead of $4 for another plastic, pay the $8 for the improved metal version!!!wow thats a long time for lim gaskets. last time out i was done in less then 2 hrs. that gas leak. pull the fuel rail back off, check the o rings for damage. replace if needed. clean the holes in the heads if you didnt already, oil the new o rings before rolling them on the injectors, then re oil before you push them back in the heads.It was initially listed around a month ago, so hopefully if it does look like it could just be the elbow or LIM gasket they'll be willing to negotiate a bit. The external leak is not typically what we expect from bad LIM gaskets or a bad UIM. More likely the coolant elbow or a bad o-ring, seal or gasket on that end of the engine. Makes sure you install the 2 O-ring seals [at the back] on the LIM, between the LIM and Supercharger. Re-fitted the Supercharger and Gasket, and also torqued the bolts accordingly [and in sequence] Replace the O-Ring on the Tensioner Fitting, [I also applied Gasket Cement on and around the Seal] Re-installed the Tensioner BracketI just purchased a ZZP intake, ported SC, and a Garlock LIM gasket. The intake has a lot of meat removed between the blower output and the wastegate hole. Trying to determine if this open area should be cut from the gasket, or left alone.
